Terminally ill and on his deathbed, former Dean of St. Teresa's College, Yogendra "Yogi" Vashisht, requests to see the students from his last batch. Some of them arrive to meet him and hold themselves responsible for the lively Dean having fallen ill. The film then goes into a flashback set ten years back.

The final round of the competition is a triathlon. Abhi, in the lead, during the end, surprisingly slows down, resulting in Ro winning the competition. Ro, however, declines to accept the award citing personal reasons. After Rohan steps down, Yogi is heavily berated by Sudo, who talks about how the Student of the Year competition has always been rigged from the start. Sudo says that the competition broke their friendship of two years and was unfair to people like Sudo, who wasn't as popular or attractive as Abhi or Rohan. After finishing his speech, he storms out. This causes Yogi to eventually retire. The students soon graduate and lose contact with each other.
The soundtrack received positive reviews from music critics. Joginder Tuteja of Bollywood Hungama gave the album 4/5 stars, saying that "Student of the Year is a winner with Vishal Shekhar (yet again!) justifying their stance of doing a few films but lending quality sound to it."[34] IANS of CNN-IBN gave the album 4/5 stars, concluding that "The soundtrack of Student of the Year is a good mix with very minor flaws that can surely be ignored to enjoy the music that perfectly describes the mood of the movie."[35]
STOY was one of disastrous movie ever made in recent time once again confirming that it is the content of the film that makes it watchable and not glossy and glamour look.Student of the year tells the story of 3 friends in a school and how their life cross and influence each other to ultimately win the annual STOY competition.Directed by Karan Johar , STOY promises all the glitters and glosses with candy floss romance which was unnecessary but fails to mark in the most important aspect - script. The movie begins in flashback describing 3 pivotal character in the most stupid way possible. For instance - Karan Malhotra's character is a middle class struggling student but he is entering the college with some high-end expensive motorbike, Aliya Bhatt's character introduction is in a night gown which is none lesser than a bikini ( was wondering which kind of female student wears these dresses in their hostel), Varun's character is still decent but not even close to reality. The biggest camouflage is that the students shown in the film wearing trendy cloths , riding on expensive cars and bikes , traveling to Thailand and they do not even look like school-going kids. ( In India , I thought student had uniform to wear) Worst is the introduction of so many songs that you will feel like pulling out hair.I have never liked Karan Johar's movies and this was an icing on the cake confirming his in capabilities. He uses glamour and expensive set decoration for his movies but never works on the screenplay. Pathetic direction is followed by terrible screenplay followed by even worst story. Music by Vishal-Shekhar is a big letdown. The talented duo has given so many good music before but could only provide 2-3 songs which can be listened once. Coming to the performances , Varun Dhawan has potential to make it big. He emotes expressively and has an attitude to become a big star. Karan Malhotra's acting was wooden. He still needs to work on his performance skills. Aliyah Bhatt looks gorgeous but thats it .. in term of acting she has long way to go. Talents like Rishi Kapoor and Ronit Roy are wasted. Overall , a terrible movie in every context. I would suggest you to watch Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar again as it relishes the spirit of sport rather than this boring flick !! Bad 0.5 /5
You work hard all week so that you can enjoy your weekend, with anticipation that a good movie will make all the hard work worthwhile. But then life produces people like 'Karan Johar' to keep reminding you that not every Friday night will be fulfilling. After watching SOTY I felt like watching a good movie (at least twice) to completely erase from my memory the 3 hrs of non-sense I had to go through. SOTY is everything that is wrong with today's bollywood movies. After watching the way people have acted in the movie, I could bet 'Justin Bieber' could have done a better role than these newbie's :-P. SOTY tries to capture the friendship among two friends in a college who... fight over one girl, duh! There is absolutely no chemistry between the friends or the couples. The two new heroes have tried their best to make their friendship look good, but I would say their friendship is more of a sunken-ship. It never even comes close to the chemistry friends share in 'Dil chahata hai' or 'Aisha' or 'Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara'. The new heroine is like a doll, whose face has been painted white. There's something weird about the girl's face that looks extra (Photoshop) white than it should normally be. Of all the actors, Rishi Kapoor is the only one who stands out being soundly suitable and interesting for his role.I felt the movie lost connection with the Indian audience when they started showing foreign things in the movie, like college arranging prom nights and triathlon. Then there are scenes where people start getting emotional for things that don't concern them and not to mention the half a dozen songs squeezed into the movie, on top of that half these songs are remake of old Hindi songs. This movie lacks innovation, acting, good story or a good casting. My suggestion: All those who plan to watch "Student of the Year"... change your plans!
Sony now has a clear field to sell movies and TV shows on disk. But the two-year fight with Toshiba over formats had gummed up the market, forcing studios to choose sides in releasing movies and stalling consumer purchases. Buyers hesitated to end up with a disk version of Betamax, the video format that lost to VHS in the last great format war.
And suddenly nipping at the heels of all of those is the Internet, where consumers can now download HD movies and TV shows. The downloads come from nascent services like Apple's iTunes and Vudu that offer only 100 or so titles each. But the studios that produce video entertainment are intrigued by the Internet, which cuts out bulky, balky middlemen like Sony, Wal-Mart, and Comcast.
Blu-ray, for example, is now the only place to get the true 1080p resolution, which is the top video quality that can be played back on some TVs. Vudu claims to offer movies in 1080p, but its Internet delivery forces compression that won't match Blu-ray's quality, at least not yet.
That might as well have been a million years ago. Filmmakers like Jim [Jarmusch] and I, the only reason we went to film school was because of the equipment. We didn't care about the MFA. You went to film school to get the equipment. Now students look at the cost of going to schools and say, "I could use that money to buy my own camera and lighting kit." It's a new world.
Shortly after Netflix, Hulu joined the game and launched its streaming service to the public in 2008. And in 2011, Amazon began offering unlimited, instant streaming of their collection of shows and movies as a benefit of their Prime membership. Since then, networks and media conglomerates have tried to cash-in on the streaming craze, most notably with the launches of Disney Plus, HBO Max, Apple TV, and Peacock. However, if one were to own subscriptions to all of these services, they would end up paying the same cost as traditional cable which negates the initial attraction and intent of subscription video-on-demand services. This frenzy appears to be creating more red tape for consumers to watch their favorite shows and movies and is leading to an increase in illegal viewing.
One study surveyed several file-sharing sites and found that within the first two days of the movie premiering, millions of people had downloaded and viewed it illegally. For comparison, Wonder Woman 1984 was found to be nearly 10% of all illegal TV and movie downloads on its first day, and Avengers: Endgame was 5.63% of all downloads on the first day a high-quality pirated copy was shared. The latter was the top-grossing film of 2019 and was premiered only in theatres. Again, these popular file-sharing sites are just the tip of the iceberg and only account for a small percentage of online piracy. So potentially, the number of illegal viewers could rival the number of people who watched it legally on HBO Max.

One year ago, unaware of the pandemic that would strike the globe in 2020, the SouthTRAC aircraft campaign took place in Río Grande and El Calafate, Argentina. Since then, data evaluation has been revved up to full intensity, and many instrument groups were able to present interesting preliminary results during a recent (virtual) meeting. This encompasses novel evidence about the occurrence and propagation of gravity waves over the Andes and the Antarctic Pensinsula that interact with the polar vortex, transporting energy into the middle and upper stratosphere. Air mass transport is investigated with interhemispheric comparisons, studying characteristics of exchange between the stratosphere and the troposphere, and within the lower stratospheric regions. Chemical composition analysis is performed on various fronts, one of the most intriguing being the observation of a large number of tracers for biomass burning that occured in several places during the campaign season, predominantly Brazil and Australia. These examples nicely illustrate the long range impact of local emission or excitation events with often global effects. Also plans were made for publications, and first results will be disclosed to the public this year. 2ff7e9595c
